Quick-drying with reduced dust, perfect for hay production
-
High in true protein and palatable for livestock
-
Winter-hardy and persistent in colder climates
-
Pre-inoculated with Yellow Jacket® for better establishment
Red clover is an upright, short-lived perennial. It has a strong taproot that allows it to use subsoil moisture in summer better than white clover. It does not tolerate dry conditions or drought, or poorly drained soils. Red clover provides extra feed in late spring and summer in high rainfall areas, irrigated pastures or on naturally summer-moist soils that are well drained. It can be sown as pure stands or as a specialist crop for hay, as silage or grazing. Rotational grazing will promote plant longevity and persistence. Most cultivars do not persist beyond 2 to 3 years.
Freedom!™ Red Clover
Key features
• Low Pubescence & Reduced Dustiness: Less stem hair, minimizing dust in hay
• Faster Drying: Quick water evaporation, ideal for hay production
• High Forage Quality: Palatable, nutritious, and rich in true protein
• Winter-Hardy & Persistent: Improved resilience in cold climates
• Nitrogen Fixing: Lowers fertilizer costs by enhancing soil nitrogen
Uses
• Hay Production: Dries faster, reducing quality loss
• Silage: Retains high true protein, boosting feed value
• Grazing: Rapid regrowth provides consistent, high-quality forage
Establishment
• Fast Establishing Legume: Best planted in fall, 8 weeks before frost, or frost-seeded in early spring
• Versatile Planting: Suited for full-cultivation, no-till seeding, or broadcast when frost-seeding
• Pre-Inoculated: Coated with Yellow Jacket®, enhancing water absorption and plant health
Management
• Cutting Regime: For first-year stands, cut before full bloom. For established stands, cut at early bloom, with subsequent harvests at late bud or early bloom
• Avoid Harvesting: In extreme heat or close to first freeze to ensure stand longevity
